Eastern Quarry
Kent - UK
Converting over 1,000 acres of abandoned chalk quarries into a new town, Eastern Quarry (or White Cliff) will provide over 10,000 new homes in a resort character experience. Over 100 acres of lakes, 200 acres of parks, watefront centres, town retail centre, new urban schools, and central parks fill each of five villages that are hung on a bracelet of a Fastrack transport spine connecting Bluewater with Ebbsfleet International Station.
This development by Land Securities will redefine the concept of Ebenezer Howard’s Garden City of Tomorrow by putting more emphasis on commerce and education instead of open space and distance. The intricate density of Eastern Quarry will restore the spirit of the English Town out of the detritus of an industrial wasteland.
