The River Project

Bangkok - Thailand

Commanding the banks of the Mae Nam Chao Phraya, this proposal offered to invigorate the entrance to a pair of residential towers, transforming their bare ground plane and car park podiums into a public piazza and exclusive residential roof gardens, complete with spas, gyms and banqueting facilities. The rippling green steps of the roof gardens reference the region’s terraced rice paddies, with a series of elliptical pools cascading down towards a circular hot tub, surrounded by teak sun loungers. The interlocking patterns project down to the piazza’s paving below, reaching out into the river to form a dynamic diamond jetty where water taxis may moor. A long corridor of jostling parasols creates a dramatic portal to the second tower that opens out into a landscaped water garden populated by the dining pavilions of three podium restaurants.
